Detox December before Holiday Feasts! Physical and Mental Health Reset

Have you been eating since Thanksgiving week like it never ended as I have? I am taking a couple of weeks to lighten my load and the tightness of my belt. This is going to at least give me a bit of latitude between Christmas and New Year when I really join the crowd of starting a much needed NEW YEAR 2021!! Yes! Can't wait to turn the calendar over but in the meantime, I am taking a few action steps to lose a couple of pounds, get my head right, and feel good going into the weirdest Christmas season I have ever had.
One thing I have learned about myself in trying to lose a few pounds is that intermittent fasting is my key and I learned a great deal about this in the book The Obesity Code by Jason Fung M.D What I am doing for 10 days until the holidays is a pairing of juicing and fasting all day with a nice full meal at night with a dessert. This does a couple of things in that it reduces my calorie count significantly and yet allows me the enjoyment of good food at night. Something to look forward to and it lets me sleep without a hollow feeling in my stomach growling at me.
Dr. Oz had a juice on a 28-day weight-loss show and it is one I really liked and use it daily when I do this detox. It is really simple and if you have a Nutribullet it makes life easy. Just use cucumbers whole sliced, celery in 2" sections, baby spinach, fresh ginger, half a lemon juiced, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, and beet powder. Add water and ice and blend. Drink up and enjoy. I usually make two servings to last me until noon. The only thing I consume in the morning is my pot of coffee, water, and juice. This combined with not eating after 8:00 at night gives me 16 hours of fasting and allows my body to really lose weight fairly quickly and I feel lighter quickly. Any mental relief is welcome these days, right?
I will combine this with a daily morning stretch, walk the dog, and three workouts a week. Two weeks before the holiday will give me a good feeling for my celebration and set the tone for the follow-up after it's over. Developing the pre-habit before getting super serious in January.
