The mind is our key to prosperity! Here are a few areas to provide ideas as you work to grow into your natural routines for maximizing your baseline of happiness.

Becoming mindful is what this is all about and reading the book “The Untethered Soul” by Michael Singer is a powerful starting point. Mindfulness has been shown in studies to truly change the outlook and health of people who practice a few simple strategies on a regular basis. Lower stress, better sleep, pain reduction, and improved immune systems have been shown to be the results of a mindful meditation and gratitude practice.

These things can be as simple as just sitting and breathing deeply for a minute or two with your eyes closed a couple of times a day. Don’t have contempt without investigation and make it out to be something only done by some weirdos wearing robes and ringing handbells. It is for all of us to find our way to quiet our minds and slow down the flow of meaningless self chatter.

The gratitude you practice can be just in your own thoughts or you can take it to a higher level of actually writing things in a journal as often as daily, weekly, monthly, or just whenever you feel funky in your days and need a jump start out of Stressville.

The top sources of gratitude in the U.S. are:

Our families

The freedoms we have in America

Good Health

Close Friends

Things that we have like a new TV or old truck we love

Between our busy lives and all the bigger stressors, we have been facing who can blame us for having “gratitude deficit disorder” as coined by Robert Emmons, the author of ”Gratitude Works!

Emmons states “When people are grateful they feel more alert and alive.” He goes on to say, “it strengthens relationships and the benefits can be felt almost immediately.”

Take the time to do a regular practice of gratitude in your life as often as possible and you will notice a difference. It replaces the space you might be using in your day for negative chatter.
